Nephrology

The Department of Nephrology has been operational since 2016, extending its services to thousands of patients from Alappuzha and the neighbouring districts of Kollam, Ernakulam, and Pathanamthitta.
Outpatient services are conducted on two days each week—Adult Nephrology on Wednesdays and Pediatric Nephrology on Thursdays. In addition, a dedicated transplant outpatient clinic functions on the first Monday of every month, and a CAPD clinic on the second Monday.
Since its foundational phase in early 2001, the Department has provided 24-hour services including emergency hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. It is equipped with four independent dialysis units, a robust peritoneal dialysis program, CRRT facilities, invasive nephrology procedures, and comprehensive renal transplant services.
The Department played a vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic, standing as the only functional dialysis unit in the district and saving numerous lives.
Our students—both super-specialty residents and paramedical trainees—have consistently achieved top positions in academic and clinical platforms.
