Medical and Paramedical Courses Conducted

The Department conducts MD course in Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion with an intake of one post graduate student per year.
We train MBBS students and MD students of various departments and also DMLT students.

Routine clinical activities

Blood centre is an emergency department which works 24 hours x 365 days in three shifts. The areas or stations of work in the department are:

1. Donor counselling and registration
2. Medical examination and donor selection (Hb screening and blood grouping )
3. Sample receiving
4. Blood grouping and Rh typing
5. Cross matching with blood from inventory and issue
6. Testing for TTD’s and care and follow up of positive samples.
7. Blood component separation and proper storage
8. Phlebotomy and donor care
9. Special Immunohaematological tests like IAT, Antibody titration, DAT, Phenotyping,
10. Conducting in-house and outreach blood donation camps
11. Quality control of reagents and equipments.
